I used poly groups to apply creases to the primitives before preforming a dynamic subdiv. The crease level was set to 5 and all of the sub divs were initially set at 4 but was increased as I needed more resolution.
Sculpt |
For this sculpt I primarily used brushes from the Orb brush pack. For the wood detailing and cracks I alternated between the Orb Cracks 1 & 2 brushes and used the Orb Pinch brush to tighten the details. The Hard Polish brush was used to rough up the wood and the Orb Hammered Metal was used to apply texture to the metal components of the hammer. I used Orb Slash 4 for adding additional detail to the metal and Orb Slash 2 to detail the leather straps around the hilt that were molded into place with the Move brush and then layered with the Clay Tubes brush. The diamond shape was created with a custom alpha that I made in Photoshop.
